TEACHER WELCOME BACK (AUGUST 2025)
Let's Roar will sponsor a Welcome Back Event for all KHS teachers and staff to celebrate the upcoming school year.
AUGUST 2025:
Welcome Back Event for all KHS teachers and staff to celebrate the upcoming school year. KHS Alumni Larry Sutton, RNR Tire Express founder, provided generous support for the event.
MAY 2025:
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon given for 120 KHS teachers and staff. Lunch sponsored by KHS Alumni Larry Sutton, founder of RNR Tire Express.
APRIL 2025:
Presented over 650 lbs. of hygiene products for the student pantry. Items collected and given at the Spring event by the Class 1969 and other KHS Alumni.
MARCH 2025:
Volunteer Campus Beautification Day. Let's Roar volunteers worked to trim bushes, remove dead plants and pressure wash sidewalks.
JANUARY 2025:
We have purchased 80 hoodies, 60 pairs of women's leggings as well as 100 pairs of socks to be delivered to students by Jan. 30 2025. In addition, 188 individual healthy snacks were donated to the food pantry.
DECEMBER 2024:
Two KHS current student families each received $600 towards holiday gifts. Let's Roar representatives presented the items to the families.
OCTOBER 2024:
Homecoming football game tickets distributed to 50 KHS students.
MAY 2024:
Teacher appreciation lunch sponsored for 120 KHS teachers and staff.
Presented over 500 lbs. of hygiene products for the student pantry. Items collected and given by the Class of 1969's from their gathering in May.
FEBRUARY 2024:
Let's Roar participated in a KHS gas station clean-up day. The Mobil station located at the corner of 56th Street and Sligh Ave. had become an area where drugs and other illegal activities occurred. As a result, the area was unsafe for students and other community members. KHS Administration asked Let's Roar members to assist in the clean-up of this neighborhood corner.
JANUARY 2024:
Several projects were completed and presented to KHS:
- Let's Roar distributed 100 hoodies, 100 pairs of men's and women's socks and 50 pairs of men's and women's underwear.
- A delivery of toys, games and puzzles for the KHS Childcare center. Lets's Roar members assembled two small outdoor play structures, tricycles, and art easels.
- A collection of art frames and related supplies was presented to the KHS Art Department.
DECEMBER 2023:
Two KHS current student families received $500 towards holiday gifts. Let's Roar representatives Joselyn Bacalis and Anne Marie Barr presented KHS social worker Krysten Dimento and the families with the items.
DECEMBER 2023:
Collection of 100 pairs of men's and women's socks with 50 pairs of men's and women's underwear for student distribution. Presented by Let's Roar Board Joselyn Bacalis and Pam Kennedy to KHS social worker
NOVEMBER 2023:
Collection of donated hygiene products to aid KHS students.
Hygiene donations were presented to King High School's social worker, Krysten Dimento, on November 9.
NOVEMBER 2023:
Westchase Golf Club and King High alumni donated sets of golf clubs so the golf team would have the ability to compete. Golf Coach, Patrick Cowley, said he has several students who will see an immediate benefit.
SEPTEMBER 2023:
Sponsored 50 students for tickets to attend the KHS homecoming football game.
AUGUST 2023:
On Aug. 3, a Welcome Back event for teachers and staff was held on campus. Breakfast was provided and teacher gifts that included supplies were handed out.
APRIL 2023:
We collected and donated over 300 lbs. of personal hygiene products serving 540 families and approximately 2,800 people for the Feed Your Neighbor Program of Tampa.
APRIL 2023:
We provided the opportunity for a KHS junior to attend the state Future Business Leader's conference in Orlando. This student had never travelled outside of the Tampa area.
OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2022:
A construction team made multiple trips to help a KHS alumnus with the clean up and repairs of their Hurricane Ian damaged home near Ft. Myers.
NOVEMBER 2022:
A food drive helped provide canned and boxed goods to Metropolitan Ministries for their annual holiday food service.
PRIOR TO 2022:
Projects included the event organization for Sincerely Santa, a local non-profit holiday gift effort. Fifteen KHS alumni volunteered at Metropolitan Ministries warehouse during the holiday drive.
